Vents seemed to be the only thing this station didn't have a lack of, an annoyance to his senses though they were, the overgrown hellworm that crept through the cold metal bones of this World was quite well hidden none the less, acute in the damp darkness as it scurried alone with silent fast paced movements, bounding from girder to girder, it's pinnacle claws scraping as exo-skeletal skin jutted into hard bunts of steel.
This ship was a play thing, it was as artificial as any barren plane of the spheres could get, and so it's laws could be molded, that's something Gaunt had been taking his good time in. Along the routes of the creeper Chestburster it had found many ventilation fans, which quick gripped claws had easily caught to their tensile tips, tearing the blades apart, completely removing the blades until there was nothing but a heap of scrap left remaining.
Sabotage wasn't an agenda for a Xenomorph, it was an exploit to the weakness of it's foes, Gaunt had already noticed the more humid taste of the air on his lips, he scuttles were drowned by whirled clunks and thuds in the ships own design, electrical in nature, the creature couldn't help but grin softly as he heard something burst and pound, echoing through the vent before him.
Taking the prowl of a stalker, he detected no localized pheromones in the pits of his maw, though the stench of burning smog was starting to fill the air, Gaunt found himself taking a halt, tilting his gleamed dome back as his cold face stared to the very end of the vent itself, a feat that seemed impossible firstly, but he had lost track of how many floors he'd ascended, only knowing that the smell of his Hive had gotten much stronger as he'd moved like a speed demon for what seemed like hours, the presence of the Alpha Firehunter was actually recognizable to him, after so many long, traveling decades, distant as it seemed, this place eluded many senses, it trapped clear sight away.
Cold pinning claws tapped through the vents cover, pulling it in with a silent crack to keep the hellish serpents presence lean, it found the source of the whirls and clunks in view, automated fire protection protocols seemed to already be playing their cards as fire retardant spray vents whirled over the large machine, the machine that buzzed and cracked as heat poured from its own emergency ventilation system.
The serpent gazed over this machine as it whined and groaned in uncheckable strain, hundreds of cables and wires spanned from it in every direction, seeping into the walls where they merged with metal, it appeared to be a generator unit, a slowly burning out generator unit, the source of light and power for what could of been just this floor, or countless more.
Gaunt didn't waste time contemplating things any further, for it had already slammed its rigid claws into the weakened metal sheets that were the shell of this beast, peeling things away like the flesh of a kill, the tortuously painful rip of skin as it was stripped from your body by some cruel, tormenting hand. Sparking turbines and wires jutted to the loud buzz of the generator, the metal screeching and cracking as everything seemed to collapse in on itself in one motion of terror, hot acid soaked into all the hardware as it chugged out desperate last breathes, the corrosive compound ate through everything, the large metal shell creaking with a loud bend of its support girders, the floor below it giving way as it all came crashing down, the room falling in on itself as the creature who spilt its own blood now ran for its life, from the collapsed door frame into the wide halls of the station.
The Chestburster gripped its wrist as it scuttled frantically down the corridors, everything it passed burning away as acid leaked from his gleaming skin in high pressurized bursts, gaping large burn holes in the flooring, Gaunt desperately pressed his wound to his maw, lapping resinous saliva against wound as he slowed down, crashing head first into the nearest maintenance grate for cover, it grinned softly as the air grew silent, all the lights of this stations level failing at once, darkness engulfed everything in an eye blink.
His blood no longer flowing, Gaunt softly slipped out into the pitch darkness of the corridor, he had no idea how far the power failure would spread, but light was never a friend, he knew that, it was what any foe feared, to face the might of the Hive on barren, dark, desolate Worlds. The Chestburster started to creep its way along once more, making its way down the blackened halls, not a drop of blood falling to cause him threat or harm, the end of the halls soon came to view, a closed elevator shaft present in view, a new vent leaned in cold bloom, quickly torn open by the razoring claws of the clambering snake, he continued to ascend, up the vertical networks of the station, the smell of his Hive growing stronger and stronger, he could almost imagine the thunderous roars again, those deep, glorious roars of The Hive.
