Wow, when people take this so seriously and almost boil over, it only shows that people got a great fetish over animation. It sounds more like a cultish religion right now, as it would be something people would worship, rather than watch for personal interest and joy. Well not everyone want to be converted into a anime fan, or see everything in anime. And that should be respected, as well that people love anime... When they don't go crazy when someone break their little bubble...j/k
When it comes to seeing animation as art, then i guess it is the new art for modern kids. But personally i dont look at it as art, but more like cartoon for kids. Maybe im old fashion, but i rather see Mona Lisa than Mona Lisa Kawaii, or FullMetal Gogh with weird japanese facial expressions, and robotitc tentacles with gore on the background.
I do work with design since I'm a interior architect designer (at least i try... lol), and I've been taught a lot about interior, architect, graphic design, lighting and the rest of the package. And i remember when these japanophiles at last year just made sterotypical japanese anime, and believed that was japanese traditional art. The teachers were like "Wtf? Aren't you students a bit too old liking this stuff?" When expecting to old fashion japanese art.
But, for them japanophiles the western animes called The Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and the rest, was idiotic for them, because they had a plot and made fun world issues and everything else, rather than being japanese anime style with robots, evil tentacle monsters, lasers, teenage heros with no parents (since the sadist writers wanted them dead), occult alchemist stuff, ninja, sake, noodles, sushi, anarchy, emosim, vampirsm, pedophilia... Which have been used too many times.
Disney Movies? Well seemed like that was bad as well.
Waltz With Bashir? Well they hated that too because it was political and middle eastern.
And yes, i did try watch those animes mentioned. FullMetal Alchemist, Naruto, Cowboy Bebop, etc, etc. But it just annoys me. And its funny how weird people look at me when i say im not a fan of anime, as i would be alien or a weirdo. But everyone got their own taste, and i respect others as long as they respect mine. But this whole anime thing is too monotonous. It's too much of it. And someday, and that day may never come, they'll even try make anime out of Schindler's List, Forrest Gump (with prosthetic robotic laser legs), The Godfather, Heat, Vanilla Sky (Vannilla Rave Sky?).
But the closest movie you get to which could fit to anime, is probably Twilight. Now, I'm not even gonna start telling how much i disliked that movie on this topic, because of personally experienc, i got angry fans on my neck because of that.
But if people sees anime as a holy thing, then perhaps both anti-anime and pro-anime comments and ideas should be left from this topic. Because i dont want any suicide bomber on my door tomorrow 7'o clock in the morning... Okay that was a bit rough, lol.
But my novel ends now.
