Clan Vs. Clan RPG: The Falling Sky

Crow, Undefined, 17 years ago

Millions of light years away, some time in the distant future...

Miles upon miles of cracked soil and drifting sand caked the dry, barren surface of the dead planet Derrarus. Its surface, having been laid to waste by the merciless rays of the two red giants whom lazily swung around one another in their dwindling waltz to extinction, bore no food, no water, and no life...

Instead, beneath the artificial gases which had been delivered to this barren wasteland from the heavens, amidst the occasional wreckage of the once-great space probes and colonies of both human and extraterrestrial origin, there lay nothing more than a thick layer of poisonous gas, so lethal that even the most hardy of beasts fell to its unforgiving grasp in a matter of seconds...

But above this planet, beyond the deadly mist and desolate artifacts, a glimmer of activity stirred. Thousands of feet away from the dismal orange sea of sand and shale, a technological masterpiece silently drifted across the oxygen-rich sky, its movement dictated solely by the polar magnetism of the planet below.

Its body a mass of glittering buildings and golden crops, the floating colony NX-72 was one of the most advanced human outposts of its time...housing well over a thousand civilians, it remained entirely self-sufficient in its functionality, the solar panel-covered buildings powering both its means of levitation and the cooling units that saved its inhabitants from the scorching rays which bombarded their homes every passing day.

Countless skywalks linked the towering silver buildings of NX-72 together, their glass and steel encasements providing not only a cooler means of moving about, but also ample shade for those whom still preferred to walk the city streets...it was on these that Lieutenant Kidd, commanding officer of the marine corps on NX-72, preferred to spend most of his time, gazing out at this wonderful city and the people he had sworn an oath to protect...

On most colonies such as this, marines weren't necessary, but here on Derrarus, they were essential. Here on Derrarus, a planet of isolation and desiccation, the humans were not here to terraform, but to mine. Here on Derrarus, the dead soil had forfeited its secrets to human technology, revealing to them an entire planet of minerals with untold importance and value...

But, like most great treasures, this one hid an even greater danger...

As the suns sank low in the sky and announced the finality of their rays at the end of yet another day, a convoy of miners arrived beneath NX-72, their tank-like vehicles coming to a halt and flashing brilliant red beacons to the city above as they radioed in a request to board...they were two days ahead of schedule, but not because they had found success. What they had found instead was disaster...

That night, two miners were rushed into the outpost's emergency room, their protective masks having been shattered by an unknown creature...

Elsewhere, two small children sat atop a massive white metal drum labeled "Ethanol," the golden corn fields around them gently rustling as a warm thermal drifted up and across the city. In these few minutes, just after the sun set but before the city's lights flared to life, the stars painted the sky...as they gazed up into the cosmos, one of the children pointed with glee as a shooting star streaked across the night sky, its angle suddenly changing halfway through its path before fading out of existence directly overhead. One of the children, a small girl, closed her eyes and made a wish, a small smile painted on her lips...

Silently drifting the depths of space, a yautja vessel floated over the planet Derrarus. Within its winding hallways and intricately carved rooms the menacing, muscular figures of the Balatu clan moved about, their intricate faces all bearing the same perpetual scowl...someone had invaded one of their many holy lands, kept sacred for its historical significance and merit. As they prepared themselves and plotted out their attack, they left their self-destruct devices behind: to damage their sacred grounds was heresy. They all knew their mission, it had been engraved in their teachings since birth: eliminate all intruders.

In one week's time, the colony of Derrarus had been put under lockdown. The creatures had swept through the hospital and it's three interconnecting buildings like a plague, their shimmering fangs and ebony hides leaping from the nightmares of man, woman, and child alike...the only way to stop them was to seal all exits to the complex, the steel airtight doors which barred the skywalks and doors to the streets serving as the only barrier between the humans and these horrible beasts. Marines had been positioned all around the perimeter, their eyes still nervously flitting about the outside of the buildings as screeches and screams unlike anything they had ever heard managed to resonate into the outside world...

All civilians trapped inside were assumed to be dead...

Lieutenant Kidd stood in silence on one of the skywalks outside of the sealed area, his eyes scanning the bulletproof glass windows of the hospital and its sister buildings for signs of activity...the creatures had managed to cut the lights in all four buildings now, making their activities at night, such as now, extremely difficult to monitor...however, just as he glanced over to see Second Lieutenant Hyro return from his own rounds, something new caught his eye...an ebony xenomorph, its body much leaner and more feline than the previous ones he had witnessed, padded out onto one of the skywalks. "Great...." Kidd muttered as the creature swerved its domed head and sightlessly stared at him, "They've gotten into the animal research facility..." The entire situation was a powder keg -- if they were using the humans to increase their number, and he suspected they were, then his marines were in danger...it was only a matter of time before these creatures decided to expand...

"And I thought it was bad when they got into the elementary school..."

Meanwhile, the yautja ship flared with activity as several drop pods launched from the immense vessel. Death was whispered in their prayers, and destruction shone on their blades...the Balatu clan had been insulted beyond repair, and the intruders would pay in blood...

donut, Undefined, 17 years ago

Donut crouched in the black shadows of the vacant sidewalk, her eyeless gaze locked on the marine formations as well. She wasn't quite sure what to do- her instincts pulled at her body to destroy the human threat immediately, to rush into battle without any second thoughts, however, her gift of intelligence kept her steady. She had finaly taken crows advice to be patient.

Her blue-slimey lips slightly quivered as she looked over to crow, a very slight beam of light from one of the posts near by dimly reflecting off of her smooth exoskeleton, giving off a small shine..

Donut let out the quietest of all hisses, she questioned crow once again, but this time not about keeping patience-but rather how they would make their move. Yes patience was the key to surviving, but how would they be able to destroy these humans without being destroyed themselves in the process? How would they initiate an attack?

Donut waited curiously for Crow's response, her two deadly tails staying ever so still in the night-like shadows that surrounded them.

Donut's head jolted to the marines as she heard some kind of firing coming from within the school, but no- it was not from this squad, there was a battle taking place within, and this worried Donut even more.

Turning her head to crow again she hissed a wee bit louder and gently thumped his side with one of her previously statuesque tails, demanding his response. The sounds of violence pulled at her instincts even more, it was vital to her to know how her objectives were to be accomplished.

Kidd, Undefined, 17 years ago

Just as Kidd entered the eerie hallway, a shaky voice came over the comm-link, telling the team about a flenced corpse somewhere out in the city. Looking up at his men, the Lt. doesn't know what to do, he had his plan set, but with message about a casualty in the city, he needed to send a team to investigate the problem and to check if there were any open portals leading into the city's interior that the aliens must have used to sneak past them to attack the unit.

Looking amongst the men, seeing who will go to redevouse with Rickison, Kidd points to Rayne and two others,"You three! Go join Crpl. Rickison at his position and investigate the area, if it is nothing but a bug attack, I suggest you all to find the open hatch and seal it. I do not want to lose this colony because some bugs outsmarted us marines, you got that?" The three soldiers stood straight up and gave him a salute as they answer with a hoo-rah. Acknowledging their acceptance of their new task, Kidd changes the plan to try to fit the situation,"Now, if the investigation nothing too serious, we'll start to cleanse the school, and I want you all to find whatever that killed that marine's death, and put it out of it's misery. Now go!" ordered Kidd as he turns away, hearing another hoo-rah from the trio before they exit the building.

Minutes etch by and the platoon had set up defensive positions at the front entrance of the school, making sure nothing human crawls out of this newly infested building. Using only their shoulderlamps to see the dark corridors of the school, Kidd stares down one of them, hoping to see a glimpse of the alien threat, just to speak to himself a taunt how foul their race was. Standing near the front doors of the school, two marines stood, knowing that the quarintine is covering their backs, they stood there, leaning up against the walls and looking up at the night sky as they wait for an order to replace two other marines who have been set on watch in the hallway intersection. Another marine, kneeling against the wall, a motion tracker in hand, he looks back at the man behind him who has a cigarette in his mouth as he steadies his smartgun, aiming it down the hallway, and he spoke,"Hey dude. Can I have a cig? This waiting is driving me crazy and I need something to do." The smarthunner smiles down at the the complaining marine, not reacting to his need, and the rifleman continues,"And this sticky stuff on these walls here are soaking into my BDUs everytime I lean up against it." The smart gunner shook his head and pulls out a box and drops it in the marine's lap, halting his words, and then the motion tracker beeped...

Been taken by surprise from the beep, most of the marines shifted their gaze from the areas they were ordered to watch, looked back at the two men and the little handheld box, itching for a fight to happen. Seeing this, Kidd got up as he slung his rifle over his shoulder, telling all the marines who have turned from their watch to resume it. The LT. then walks over to the two soldiers and asks them did they see anything. Both marines look down at the motion tracker and shook their heads, as they saw nothing out of the ordinary. Nodding in confirmation, Kidd raises his voice to be heard by all the men,"Get ready guys! They know we are here so keep your eyes peeled. I don't want them pouring out of this place and out in the city." Kidd readyies his rifle, aiming it down the hall, waiting for an attack that may or may not come.

Stalker, Undefined, 17 years ago

Blood pooled across the floor as Stalker lay in a broken & bloody heap at the feet of the triumphant marine. He was barely struggling to stay conscious, his tremendous injuries & blood loss had taken their toll on the veteran warrior. The muffled words of Malus sounded, but his mind was in such a traumatized state that he could barely take in the events around him. His vision slowly began to clear & the world around him came into focus. The tip of a speargun aimed directly at him as Malus spoke out. Throughout the ages, Stalker had learned to decipher the primary human language, & so was able to understand the words being spoken by the marine. "You have fought well, but you lie here bested, if you surrender now, you shall be allowed to leave this place in peace." Mauls explained.

A gurgled grunt of pain emanated from Stalker's throat as he barely managed to raise his head from the cold metal floor, spitting blood from his mouth. The creature's fearsome jaws parted as a laugh began to rise from his throat. He could feel the warmth of his own blood pooling out underneath his body, he knew he would not have long left to live in his current state. His eyes shifted towards his own body, which had now been savagely ripped apart from the tremendous injuries he had sustained. Pain tore through his body as the shock of the trauma began to wear off. His body contorted in extreme agony as the school's upper level became engulfed in his savage, pain-fueled howls. Malus cringed at the barbaric sight. As demonic & brutal as the creature was, its pain & suffering was a tough sight to take in.

He could feel the lump in the back of his throat as the creature howled in extreme agony, unable to defend itself. Simply to leave the beast alive at this point seemed like cruelty. Stalker's jaw clenched tightly in a futile effort to muffle the tremendous agony piercing through his entire body. He knew that attempting to reach for his medicomp at this point was futile, the marine would have seen to that. The hunter's head lay back into the pool of blood as his body once again became numb. One of the galaxy's mightiest killers had been reduced to a helpless bloody mess at the feet of a mere human. It was a fate Stalker had no desire for. Malus struggled under his own emotions to repeat his statement, offering the hunter his life if he were to retreat from NX-72.

A grim smirk beamed across Stalker's face as the marine's words echoed in his mind. Slowly, the creature's head once again raised from the ground, every movement his body made was incredibly difficult to achieve. The hunter's fearsome jaw parted: "You have proven yourself a mighty opponent, a true warrior of your species..." Stalker murmured in distorted human tongue. Malus stood shocked at what he was hearing. "...But I shall surrender to no-one..." the hunter proudly exclaimed. Malus nodded as a sign of respect to the fallen warrior, raising the speargun in his hands to finish the job. A proud smirk beamed across the hunter's face as Malus prepared to end his suffering, raising the speargun & aiming it directly at Stalker's chest. The hunter's left arm slowly raised from the ground, the severed stump of his hand clearly visible, almost as a sign of other worldly gesture to the marine in his final moments.

"Goodbye...." Malus shakily explained as his finger slowly depressed the trigger of the speargun. Stalker's eyes averted from the marine as he stared down the hallway towards the wall behind him, something catching the hunter's attention. The creature's head turned back towards Malus, his mouth parting one final time: "You shall be honoured in the afterlife..." the mighty warrior exclaimed as the fingers of his right hand barely managed to grip the netgun secured to his waist. His clawed finger pressed down on the thumb trigger as a web of razor sharp wires propelled from the barrel & slammed straight into Malus. The force of the impact sent the marine hurtling backwards as he finally reached the wall behind him. Strangely, Malus could not feel the intense, flesh ripping pressure of the net this time around as before. His whole body seemed to have gone numb. An expression of pure shock adorned his face as he barely managed to tilt his head downwards. The combistick which had been impaled into the wall by Stalker's misjudged throw earlier in the conflict had remained in its position, & the force of the net had thrown the marine right onto its deadly barbed end. The lifeless body of Malus Darkblade slumped forwards as it dangled on the combistick. A deep, painful sigh emanated from Stalker's throat as his last ounce of strength flowed from his body. His head lay back into the pool of blood as his eyes closed & his mind slipped into unconsciousness.

donut, Undefined, 17 years ago

A few seconds had passed before Donut had realized what had happened. Her lower jaw slightly dropped as she turned her head in all directions, looking for crow, where had he gone?

Settling her gaze upon hydro's confused squad, she began to move through the shadows, her sapphire flesh hidden within the darkness. Crawling, crouching, scurrying, Donut quietly ventured through the shadows looking for Crow.

Her smooth cranium slightly moved towards the "sky" as she caught the familiar scent of her kin, however, she couldn't quite pinpoint their exact location. Her two deadly tails remained tightly coiled against her back as she darted up the side of a building, it would be easier to spot crow from a higher place, wherever he was.

Upon reaching the top of the building, Donut made sure to stay alert for any potential threats. She knew the hive was in the danger, the queen, but something within her drove her to find crow before anything else. Releasing a small hiss, Donut uncoiled her tails and sat still, trying to decipher the location of Crow's scent.

Kidd, Undefined, 17 years ago

Taking care of the injury that Hyro recieved, Kidd stood beside his wounded friend, dispite his artificial being, the human cared for his men, no matter where they came or who or what they are, for they all were part of a unit. Using what he had learned in First Aid class, Kidd bandages the ear, trying not to impair Hyro's hearing the best he could, and succeeded to a certain degree. Nodding in his own approval of his work, the marine looked up at the buildings, standing up to his six feet two inches height, he scans the buildings for any signs of movement with his brown eyes, wondering what these creatures are up to.

Taking his M10 Ballistic Helmet in hand, the marine puts it on his head, covering his summer short cut brown hair. Wearing nothing but the marine combat equipment, comprising of the M3 Personal Armor, complete with shin-guards, the human seems to be fully protected, but for his arms and thighs, they were vulnerble to bullets, shrapnel and any other foriegn objects that can do great harm to the wearer.

Grabbing his left wrist with his right hand, the young man rubs it with his thumb, the friction causing heat to generate on the joint of his forearm and hand. Glancing down at his glove covered hands, the marine stares at one of his fingers, for underneath the leather of the glove is a golden band, remembering the unforgettable events he had on earth. Suddenly, a loud scream was heard from within the buildings, causing Kidd to snap back into reality to see what is going on. Seeing nothing in sight, Kidd turns, giving an order to his second in command,"Hyro, get a section ready. I think, I have an idea to put an end to this terror." As the marine turned away, he heads to the barracks ready to plan the mission to put down this infestation.

Crow, Undefined, 17 years ago

((Cutm3up, please redirect all out-of-character posts to the RPG Chat Topic, it's there for this exact reason. And yes, he is godmodding.))

Crow heard Donut's hiss and slid his arms through the hole he had generated, his ebony talons retracting beneath his flesh as he placed his powerful fingers on the outside glass. Carefully, he raised a foot and pressed it to the inside glass, shortly followed the other as he realized that the surface could support his weight. Pausing for a moment to make certain everything was stable, he slowly slid out of the skywalk and into the outside world...

Gently padding up the glass and onto the roof of the skywalk, Crow was soon greeted by Donut, who was quick to rub her face alongside his, the affectionate act hastened by her impatience and desire to feed. Issuing a short hiss, the sapphire xenomorph questioned their patience, to which Crow calmly let a long, low crooning response roll from his lips. He had seen the potential of these humans firsthand, and he knew that to attack them head-on was suicide.

Instead, Crow purred his own suggestion of a subtle strike as he nimbly leapt from the skywalk to the outside of an adjoining apartment building. Donut issued her own objection in a form of a growl as she leapt after him, the two of them silently crawling alongside one another down the length of the steel structure, toward the unguarded shadows below.

Had they not have been debating their next course of action, Crow and Donut might have heard the small whimper of a human child, who pulled her stuffed bear tight to her chest as the length of Crow's underside passed over her bedroom window.

Crouched upon the firm, indestinguishable concrete of a vacant sidewalk, Donut and Crow continued to softly hiss to one another their next course of action, the streetlights upon either side of them making their figures defined to one another but indistinguishable from the shadows around them to any onlooker.

Finally convincing Donut to be patient with a drawn-out hiss and a gentle nuzzle, Crow slowly turned his head and repositioned as he scanned the nearby marine formations, searching for a sign of weakness. After a couple moments, however, Crow simply leaned back a little and redirected his gaze at Donut -- he couldn't decide what to do next, and decided to follow his potential mate instead.

navyspaz, Undefined, 17 years ago

Navyspaz was a small, frightened xenomorph, Still in its Facehugger stage. He had followed other Xenomorphs into the Colony. But has taking cover. He hears many humans running in fear through the dark corridors. And blood curtling screams. And noises of thrashing through flesh. Navyspaz made a slight garbling noise, as he saw a human stumble into the same room as him, He slowly crawled forward, out from under a desk, he was taking cover under. And peaked, looking at the terrified human, unarmed, and one of his arms severly damaged. As he was holding it, and blood dripping. He then heard loud, footsteps thumping the ground, and a hiss, Navy backed up under the desk, and stayed quiet, waiting to see what was about to happen. And coming down through the door was a fellow Xenomorph. It stood up high on his back legs. and hissed looking toward the wounded human, the human screamed, and jumped up trying to pick up a chair as a weapon, but he was too weak, and wounded, he was then slammed against the wall by the Xenomorphs tail, the human moaned while on the ground, and was out of breath. The Xeno then leaned over and hissed toward the Humans head, The human then started to cry. Navy crawled out and garbled, The xeno looked toward Navy, as he crawled toward the human up to his face. Then, the Xenomorph saw that Navy was about to impregnate this wounded human, So the Xenomorph backed up and continued through the building, As he saw a person run down the corridor from other xenomorphs and go inside a nearby room. Navy walked closer to the human, he started to shake. And as soon as Navy was getting ready to pounce, the man reached backward really quickly, and pulled out one of the legs off the chair he dropped from getting hit., Navy pounced forward but the man held it infront of his face, knowing what Navy is, and what he was about to do. He then hit Navy really hard, once in the back, stunning him. He then tripped, while getting up, and started to run as fast as he can out of the room, then around the corner down the corridor. Navy rolled over on his legs, and watched the man turn down another hallway, He then quickly followed him.

After several minutes of searching, Navy was becoming impatient. And then heard another scream, toward the direction where he was traveling. he then saw 2 men come around the corner running as fast as they can, A Xenomorph then fell from the roof, Knocking one of them to their stomach, the other continued running. As this xenomorph attacked this current one. He then grabbed onto the mans back, he yelled in pain. And the Xeno started slashing the man, and then used his inner jaw, and ended it. The mans head fell to the ground, with blood pouring out of his wound in the back of his head. Navy was uninterested, he continued to follow the other man, through the building complex.

Stalker, Undefined, 17 years ago

...Several minutes prior to launch...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
The eyes of the warrior began to part, the creature was awakening. Dreadlocks swayed around it's massive head as it attempted to gather it's bearings. Reaching forth it's clawed hand, it touched the controls of it's cryo-sleep chamber. A loud fizz echoed through it's small, reptilian ears as the chamber was ventilated of the sleep inducing chemicals which had kept the creature dormant. The latches on the door popped open as the door raised out & retracted, bathing the once pitch black chamber in the beaming orange light from the outside corridor.

Vapours swirled around the chamber as the creature lifted itself from it's cryo-bed. A grunt punctuated the relative silence as it hauled itself to it's feet. Claws tapped against the metal floor as it pulled itself through the chamber door. Carvings decorated the walls along the extended hallway, & a thick atmospheric mist lingered just above the floor. A proud grin beamed across the creature's scarred face as it stared at the history of it's mighty brethren etched across the walls. Chatter echoed from down the hall, catching the creature's attention. It's massive form turned towards the source of the sounds, trudging down the ghastly winding corridor to investigate.

The clank of footsteps echoed down the corridor, the creature intended to make it's prescense felt. Snarls of anticipation & excitement beamed from up ahead as the mighty God of Death made his entrance. Setting foot inside the weapons storage of the Balatu clan ship, Stalker gazed upon his brethren preparing for the upcoming journey of salvation & vengeance. The clan's sacred land had been invaded, & the time had come to take it back with full force & brutality.

A menacing laugh erupted from Stalker's throat, "We shall spill the blood of those who have defiled our holy sanctuary, have no mercy on their souls" he bellowed. An uproarious cheer echoed from the rest of Balatu. For a few of the youngsters, this would be their first time fighting alongside the infamous Gods of Death, & the excitement at the thought of their enemies' bloodshed had reached boiling point. The doctor would lead the rest of the hunters to the colony's surface shortly, while Stalker would go on ahead, prior to the majority of the clan's departure. With a gutteral growl, the mighty hunter fixed his mask firmly to his face. Clamping his armour over his chest & tightly securing his weapons, he slowly made his way to the drop pod launch bay to embark on Balatu's vengeful reign, now was the time to strike.....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

...Present time...

Metal splintered like glass as the drop pod slammed into the surface of the colony with incredible force. Stalker had landed on the outskirts of the colony, his drop pod crashing amongst several buildings near the protective outer wall, seperating the edge of the colony's being from the tremendous plummet to the surface of Derrarus below. This was not a hunt for prey, this was about vengeance, the invaders needed to be wiped from their sacred land at all costs. The doors to Stalker's drop pod slowly slid open as the moonlight beamed across his face. His massive form pried itself from the pod as he stared up into the night sky. The pods of his clan mates could be seen hurtling down towards the colony, punctuating the black sky with powerful beams of light. The journey to reclaim their holy sanctuary had begun....

----orbiting Derrarus ----

the elder had awoken from the induced sleep quite some time before the rest of the clan. he stood firm and proud looking out towards the stars through one of the obsevation windows. looking out into the black sky of the heavens, his eyes were open but his mind was closed within it's self. the insult of the invaders on their holy land was enraging and thats why he was closing his mind, pushing the anger back, storing it for when it was needed. for when anger was needed to be let loose.

some time passed before he heard the distant sound of Stalker's cryo unit open and the thumping of his footsteps on the cold floor. he could tell it was Stalker because of the pattern of the footsteps. the elder turned himself away from the dark sky and started to walk down the hallway to collect his weapons and meet his brothers.

---- before launch ----

the elder walked up and down in front of his clansmen, he stopped at the end of the line and saw that all were ready. the elder let out a great roar of commandment and the clan followed letting out their roar of anger and they each made their way to their pods as the hunt began.

The state of things could never be worse, not only was there chaos, but there was blood on Hyro’s hands. There were things he could have done, things he could have prevented. If only he had been able to contain the problem sooner, these monster’s of midnight black, these xenomorphs would not have spread to the children’s school. Human life was essential, human life was all that mattered, human life was worth dieing for, yet he failed so many lives already. Yet Hyro pushed forward, he may have failed some, but he would not fail all. It was his mission, his purgative, his “codingâ€Â, to make sure these colonists lived.

Hyro patrolled the skywalks above a ruined section of the city, at least the threat had been contained to this small area and the rest of the colony was safe. Well as safe as the could possibly be anyways, not only were these monster contained in the infected area by blast doors etc… they were also contained within a larger area bustling with marines. These men and women would fight for their lives, and lives beyond the walls. This was their home they would not let anyone take it. Sadly the situation was only getting worse and worse. These beasts were as clever as they were dangerous, and you never could tell when one of these bugs would find an open vent and just pop on you…

Hyro continued to walk, watch and listen for anything out of the ordinary. Strangely enough it had been a calm night which was unusual. The past few nights Hyro would constantly hear the xenomorphs trashing and clawing at the doors, trying to tear their way through, only to scream with frustration. Yet there was nothing tonight it was out of the norm, had they given up? Were they biding their time? Or could the beasts possibly be smart enough to be formulating a plan? What ever it was he wanted commander’s opinion. Hyro sighted Kidd and the distance staring at the ruined hospital, he assumed Kidd felt the same way about the colonists as he felt. As Hyro continued to walk toward him, Kidd hearing his footstep turned to greet him, what once was a sly grin on his face, turned into the look of dire warning. It was at that time Hyro heard a hiss behind his head…

What happened next only took place in an instant, yet it felt like an eternity to Hyro. Hyro instinctively reached for his pistol on his belt and fell to his right. As Hyro fell he felt excruciating pain as his ear was torn of by a miniature extended mouth. Had he shifted his weight one second later, there would be a rather large hole in Hyro’s head. As he turned to fire on the beast, he finally saw what they truly were. This bug of metallic black, glistening with reflections of light on its mucus covered body, tail extended, claws raised, maw open… And then, an explosion of blood burst forth from the creature skull, and it fell dead. Kidd lowered his pistol, and walked toward Hyro to help him up.

“Looks like I save you life once again my friend†Kidd said with a sly grin. Hyro returned the comment with a smirk as he clutched the hole in witch his ear once was. “Alright let me see the damage†Kidd returned. As Hyro removed his and white tissue fluid flowed. With a prodding by Kidd, Hyro burst out “hey watch what you’re doing bub, that hurts you know!†Kidd was taken back, and he immediately responded. “I didn’t know you synths, felt pain…†Hyro simply replied, “Oh, I’m the whole package, pain receptors, sex drive, “emotions, it’s supposed to make me more human, more bearable to work with.†“Oh great now I have a toaster as F***ed up as I am…†Kidd replied

Mishmuf, Undefined, 17 years ago

Amongst the many pods dropping to the planet's surface, one alone held the unblooded Yautja known as Mishmuf.

Mishmuf was nervous. Not only would this be his first major hunt, but this would also be a purging of filth on sacred land. He would have to be fierce, cunning, and powerful if he wanted to survive.

Mishmuf would also have to be brave. Something he never was good at doing. In every hunt he been on, he always was overwhelmed with great fear, and this hunt was no different.

Mishmuf inhaled deeply, hoping any anxiety or fear he had would be blown out when exhaled. Nothing changed. He was still as nervous as ever, and even worse, his pod was about to land.

Realizing that the ship was about to reach it's landing point -a remote region within the colony- Mishmuf flipped a switch within the landing pod. Tiny engines on the botton of the pod turned on and the pod landed smoothly. With a hiss, the pod's door opened, and Mishmuf relucently got out of the pod and awaited his clan brothers.

Mishmuf_02.jpg *sigh* If only I was witty enough to think of something to say here.

Unknown, Undefined, 17 years ago

The moment he'd heard the sentry gun being destroyed he knew that Xenos were the least of his worries. He'd raised his rifle and stepped back just as something metallic burst through the wall in the hallway, tearing through Corporal Cummings and decapitating him cleanly. Malus gritted his teeth as the marine fell to the ground, his life-blood soaking the carpet. Malus immediatly made a guesture with his hand and backed it up with a shout. "TAKE COVER!"
His squad knew what to do, and instantly his rifle team were taking up firing positions in the hallway, whilst the now depleted gun team headed into nearby rooms and poked thier guns through the doorways, making sure to expose as little of themselves as possible. Malus himself stuck with his rifle team. Although he was only a private, his corporal knew that he was more skilled at leadership and had handed over the bat to him after thier first mission together.
That Corporal was now lying dead a few metres from him. Malus knew he should feel grief, but he'd hardened himself to such emotions long ago. If he hadn't, he would be a broken man by now. Well whatever could throw that through a wall was definintly more than they could handle on his own. Malus grabbed his portable radio and keyed in Kidd's ferquency. "Sir, we have encountered hostile resistance up here, situation extremely critical, we need backup now!" He said loudly, hoping that Kidd would get the message and back him up. Or at least send a veteran to give him a hand. He put the radio back in his combat webbing and turned his attention back to the hallway.

Just in time to see a white and blue bolt rip through the airlock door with explosive force. He took aim as something pushed the remmaints of the airlock door out of the way casually. Malus couldn't see for sure just what it was. It looked like some sort of a blur on his vision. 'Active camouflage?' He asked himself as his eyes widened. He'd heard of creatures that used this tech to kill thier prey invisibly, but he'd passed it off as a baseless rumour.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
Malus didn't hesitate, his finger squeezed the trigger and his rifle bucked in his hands as it ejected explosive bullet after bullet at the target with deadly accuracy. At the same time he gave the order for the marines to follow his example, his acid-scarred face contorting in anger. "FIRE!" He shouted and snarled as the rest of the marines joined his barrage with thier own weapons, lighting up the hallway with explosive bullets. Private John was closest to the airlock door, and so logic dictated that he be the first to fall. And that he did, a pair of blades appearing from the blur and ending the marine's carreer with a well placed stab.

The rest of the remaining marines cried out in horror, obviously shocked at thier comrade's brutal demise. Malus merely gritted his teeth and kept firing, shouting at the other marines to do so as well. Malus was pumping bullet after bullet at the foe and by the time that he noticed the trio of red dots on his chest. "GET DOWN!" Gillie yelled and shoulder-tackled Malus out of the way, copping the plasma bolt that shot from the blur, and died instantly. Malus felt hot blood splatter all over him, and then felt even hotter plasma searing into his right side. Yet another burn in a lifetime of burns. Malus was quite familiar with the feeling of his flash bubbling and cooking, and was able to ignore it completely. That didn't help the fact that he was now trapped under the charred corpse of Gillie.

While he struggled to free himself, the shape disengaged it's camouflage and dealt with the last marine, ending it's life with a well-placed throw of some sort of shruiken. Malus managed to get out from under Gillie as the beast turned to him, and another appeared. Malus grabbed his rifle and ejected the clip, grabbed another one from his combat webbing and slammed it into the rifle's ammo berth, reloading the weapon as he'd practised tonnes of times, and had perfected the art of the quick reload. It took a little less than three seconds. "Sir... we..need.....backup..." He barely managed to say over the comms, praying that it would come quickly. But now to fight for the most important thing he knew of.

His very existence.

The first said something that Malus couldn't possibly understand as he aimed his rifle at the first foe. The second dissapeared into the fuzzy outline that Malus had familiarized with thier camouflage, and had already learned how to recognize and detect. He concentrated on the first foe, who turned menacingly towards him as the surviving marine opened fire with a snarl. His horrifically acid-scarred features twisting as he pulled the trigger and got to his feet, taking aim at what appeared to be some sort of gun that was mounted on it's shoulder. His deadly accuracy, and the opponent's momentary distraction as it talked to it's fellow monster rewarded him with a perfect hit, the weapon dentonating and spreading some shrapnel in a very small arc, a peice of metal digging into the gap of armoured plates in it's neck and causing a burst of flourescent green blood to spurt.

Malus grinned as he dived away from the creature, keeping up the automatic fire as he landed behind the corpse of Private John, using the body for cover as he dropped onto one armoured knee and raised his rifle. An idea permeated into his mind as the creature roared in pain and anger at the loss of it's weapon and the shard sticking out of it's neck. Malus took aim at one of the ammunition pouches in Gillie's webbing, right beside the deadly foe and opened fire. He hit the ammo pouch and the explosive bullets went up right next to the monster, causing even more shrapnel to fly and ignighting the other ammo clips and grenades on the marine's body, resulting in an explosion that blasted the creature off it's feet. Malus lowered his helmet and ducked behind John's corpse as the explosion reached him, the corpse absorbing the worst of the explosion.

Malus got to his feet and took careful aim at the monster as shakily rose, it's body -especially it's legs- pitted with shrapnel and bleeding heavily, with blue sparks running over it's body. Good. It looked like he'd busted up the thing's camouflage systems. Malus heard a scream coming from the infirmary and knew that the other monster had killed 2nd squad. He gritted his teeth and fired on the hunter in front of him with fresh resolve, determined to avenge his marine's deaths.

(No plas, no cloak and a lot of sharpnel wounds, mostly on your legs. How was that for a relative rookie's first shot mate?)

Standing just outside the room where his prey was located, Mishmuf peaks cautiously into the classroom to study the one named Rayne.

This creature was strange. Despite his arrogance, he showed some leadership when with his squad. He was the only one that resemble a leader in his squad. With more training, he would have been a deadly warrior.

Unfortunatly for him, he would have to face a hunter from Balatu before he can undergo that training. Stalker's kill had lured out Mishmuf's prey, but the cautious Human leader had sent two other warriors to accompany Rayne. And the fact that they found anthor Human warrior didn't help. Mishmuf would have to find a way to isolate his prey from the rest of the Human warriors, but how?

Seeing no apparant answer to his dilemna, Mishmuf continues to watch his prey from outside the door. Hopefully an answer to will apper, but until then, he would have to have patience.

Mishmuf_02.jpg *sigh* If only I was witty enough to think of something to say here.

Crow, Undefined, 17 years ago

Crow's body shifted lucidly as Donut thumped him with her tail, he knew her concern was well-placed, and above all he was aware that the gunshots, a sound so similiar to the one he had heard Kidd unleash on the skull of one of his brethren, could signify the slaughter of his kin.

His head leisurely twisted to the side as Crow took in the sound waves which lapped againt his cranium...he had been saving his energy, storing it for his decisive act, his first and finishing blow, the product of milennia of evolution and the majestic feline rotting in its slat cage...

A low, deadly hiss was Crow's only reply to Donut as he rose to stand upon all four limbs, his slender hide rippling as his muscles tensed and awoke. To stop the attack on their home, to help save their brethren, and, most importantly, to ensure their own survival, Crow knew they would have to kill as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Glittering fangs spread across the ebony xenomorph's face as his lithe figure sloped back in preparation for his strike. Every inch of Crow's body was designed for this moment, from his light, streamlined frame to the small, sharp teeth which filled his fearsome maw...

Crow was built for speed.

Nerves flared and muscles heaved as Crow shot forward in a blur of speed, his path running in a wide arc to ensure that his direction of attack did not lead back to Donut...street lights danced across his hide as air slipped over his sleek head, between his powerful, slender legs, and through his majestic teeth...

Four slits on his back, the only remnant of the tubes which would have weighed his body down in another life, parted open as air rushed into his chest cavity, pouring the wind resistance from his innards and granting him a speed unattainable by anything short of machine. Crow's claws tightly gripped the asphalt street as he shot forward, his flesh blurring in the night air.

Few marines barely had time to register what passed them before Crow's legs forced his body free from the artificial ground. The talons of his left hand found the soft human flesh he sought in his pounce. The touch was brief, the impact critical, and the satisfying crunch was unmistakeable.

In the blink of an eye, Hyro's artificial nerves sparked as the warmth of human blood touched his face. The female marine before him crumpled and fell over dead, her empty gaze staring up at Hyro, despite the fact that she was lying stomach-down on the cold, hard ground.

Crow kept running as confused shouts and screams erupted from the squad behind him, their shock carrying into the private lines of their comm system...

Bullets danced in his wake as the few who had understood what had happened in time opened fire, but Crow's speed remained his greatest sanctuary, and in only a few beats of his multichambered heart he had darted up and around the steel foundation of a building and out of sight...

Crow, Undefined, 17 years ago

Crow and Donut had long-since heard the soft, disheveled beating of human feet outside of their home before the attack, and they, much like their kin, knew what was coming long before the marines drew into proximity.

Issuing a set of piercing yelps, Crow gave a triumphant smirk as the final children were carried out of the school, each of their small, ripe bodies already carrying the precious gift of a xenomorph's life. By the time the marines had entered, the children had been safely moved elsewhere...

Turning and racing back through the school, Crow retreated deep into the safety of the hospital's depths, both him and Donut crossing the skywalk only a few seconds before the marines entered the school's doors. They had both heard the calls from their mother, and now that their task was complete, they both eagerly returned to please her again.

Their taloned feet sharply clicked against what little tile remained visible on the hospital stairs as they ascended up into the heights of the building, finally making it to one of the top-most floors. Resin thickly coated the walls, ceiling and floor, its surface having been formed into intricate, sloping designs by careful xenomorph hands. Crow could feel the humidity from the resin flow over his flesh, filling his chest cavity with moisture and warmth. Here, he felt comfortable...here, he felt at home.

Crow slowed his pace to allow Donut to pass first through the once-distinguishable double doors of the hospital emergency room, their barring nature having been defeated by the resin which pinned each door ajar. They had been one of the first to arrive, though other xenomorphs were trickling in, their few numbers swelling to a nightmarish swarm as more and more continued to heed her calls...

The queen herself, her elegant, ebony body suspended from the ceiling like one of the great tributes to the angels and gods, had been in labor for countless hours. Such an act would have normally taken an immense toll on any other creature, but the queen, her body and mind perfected into a being of supreme motherhood, remained unbothered by this. Her efforts had blessed her with many children, and that sole fact pleased her above all else.

However, the once-soothing voice of their mother had grown angered and upsetting with this call. She, too, knew that the marines were advancing, and such a threat to both her and her children was infuriating...

Approaching the queen, Crow and Donut both softly crooned as they gently announced that they had done what she had desired, and listened both patiently and eagerly as their mother hissed her new instructions to them before dismissing them and summoning a significantly larger group of xenomorphs for her next task...

Stalker, Undefined, 17 years ago

Stalker sat atop his perch as he watched the first team slowly make their way through the main entrance of the building. Hyro's men held back, providing cover for the advancing marines. A cackling growl caught Stalker's attention as he turned towards the source of the sound. The doctor had recieved his transmission, & was ready to begin the hunt. The mighty elder's cloaked form shifted towards the building's edge next to Stalker as he peered down over the street. "There is another threat here" Stalker murmured, "These humans are searching for something besides us".

The signals of several motion trackers pulsated as marines began to scan the corridors just inside the main entrance of the elementary school. "No sign of movement, sir" one of them exclaimed. "Don't let that fool you, keep your eyes open, these bastards are smart" Kidd remarked in response. Moving slowly down the corridors, the marines scanned the hallways as Hyro's team took up a covering position from the doorway entrance. Towards the end of the hallway, the walls seemed to dissapear, as the xenomorphs' resin-like secretions engulfed the building's interior. "Looks like those slimy buggers have been re-decorating their new home" Kidd remarked. "Personally, I would have done it a different way" he wisecracked, in an effort to lighten the mood.

"All clear" one of the squad mates remarked. "Move up!" Kidd shouted to Hyro's team from the far end of the hall. The second in command turned to his compatriots at the building's entrance "We're heading in" he exclaimed. "Wait....where the hell did Gail go?" he worriedly stammered. "I have no idea, he was right behind us" Rickson explained. "Sir, we have a situation out here" stammered Hyro through the comm system. "What is it?" Kidd's voice replied through the speaker in a grainy tone. "Gail has gone M.I.A., it's like he just dissapeared". "We're regrouping with you now, he can't have gone far" Kidd stammered over the comm.

Footsteps echoed throughout the empty, haunting hallways of the school as Kidd's team returned to the building's entrance to link up with Hyro's men. "Alright, what the hell happened?" he bellowed in a brash voice. "He's bloody dissapeared on us, the chicken shit must have run off" Hyro said. "I've known Gail many years, he's not the type of man to retreat & leave his comrades behind" Kidd exclaimed. "Alright, fan out, find him. I want two men covering this entrance to make sure none of those bastards tries to escape. We will proceed on-mission once Gail has been found". "Yes sir!" the marines exclaimed as they began to scour the immediate area in search of their lost comrade, switching on their shoulder lamps in an attempt to find their way around the pitch black streets in the dead of night. Cocking his pulse rifle's underslung grenade launcher, Rickson slowly approached the alley which led around the side of the school. A towering street lamp seemed to consume him in bathing light as he approached. He could feel his heart-rate rise & his breathing become heavy as he levelled his weapon & turned his weapon down the alley.

Nothing could be seen.....no trace could be found. "A dead end" he muttered to himself, turning away from the alley's entrance. Suddenly, something caught his attention out of the corner of his eye.
A crimson smear plastered a small section of the wall near the alley's corner. It was blood...outlining something. Rickson squinted in an effort to better identify what he was looking at. Suddenly, it hit him. The blood on the wall vividly outlined a hand print, with spots of blood near the end of the fingers.....the print was made by a large, clawed hand...but not that of a xenomorph. Rickson backed away from the grisly discovery, switching on his comm he prepared to inform his commander of the situation.

Suddenly, he heard the sound of dripping liquid. His hand shifted to the top of his head, wiping across the top of his combat helmet. the marine stared in horror as he lowered his hand in front of his face. It was smeared with blood. Slowly tilting his head upwards, his eyes widened as they fixed upon a crimson mass dangling from the towering street light. A ghastly shriek echoed throughout the barren streets of NX-72 as Rickson's gaze fixed upon a human body, bound at the feet & dangling lifelessly, illuminated as it passed under the light due the swinging rope-like bind it was held by. The body had been skinned down to the bone. A clank of metal broke the stunned silence as Gail's watch suddenly dropped at Rickson's feet...the body would not be hard to identify now.

A toothy grin came forth from Donut's monsterous face as she crept through the acidic-burned hole provided by crow. The already-disintigrating glass slightly cracked and webbed as her claws gripped it, then let go as her hazardous feet took their spot, droplets of acid dribbling down the glass leaving its burn.

As Donut balanced herself, she crawled up on top of the skywalk and began to walk across it in a quadripedal stance, her clawed feet slightly clicking as she walked. However, upon reaching its center, Donut stopped and turned her head to crow who was following close behind. She knew not his intentions, but she was curious as to what they were..

A small whisper of a hiss slipped through Donuts blue lips as she questioned crow, her two tails coiling as she waited for a response. However her lips quivered and revealed her white fangs as she began to grow impatient, she hungered for the sweet taste of human blood, and she was getting tired of waiting.
