It's one of the biggest oversights of the film really...a single pair of passers-by were somehow the only ones who managed to see the massive spaceship fall out of the sky.

As far as NASA not knowing, Pred ships are supposed to be invisible to radar.

But really, i've said this before, a huge ship crashes near a town, noone notices?! And what, the trees in that forst were fire-proof or something?

Even if their ships were invisible to radar, it was heavily damaged, so I doubt all of its systems were properly functioning.

I'm surprised it didn't make headline news that a comet had struck the US.

that ship was big..... heck you could hear a sifting noise when it was falling but then when it crashed a big boom occoured and i'm suprised that the houses weren't blown at all but there was a funny scene when wolf was walking on that bridge at the power station and the alien was right under him LOL
