yes it seems to be more for asthetics, the creators thought it would look cool. it can be specualted that yautja did indeed evolve from creatures that used their mandibles at the dawn of the species. i dont think they are teeth, becuase teeth occupy space in the mouth, they may just be more like hardend hair folicles, much like the horn of a rhino. its been stated in sites, like some have said, that they are more for communication, for emphasis

Naah, I think they are for the communication - well at first it would've been considered that it's cool, but then they invented a true purpose to them. I mean all those clicks and stuff - they can send pretty clear messages by mandibeles, for example spreading them and roar like hell. Or just be thinking and click them a bit together.

I also think this kinda wide facial expression is good for yautjas - I mean think of their natural sight! It would be hard to see if someone's lifting his eyebrow. The mandibles makes it easier for them to see the others expressions.

Aaaand, I'm thinking this again too far lol

yes, it is for communication. Most of the sounds preds make are made with their mandibles. You can also tell a yautja's mood by his mandibles, eg. mandibles flared= anger
