Info taken from info i found in pred comics and i found a way to explain preds to nOObs

What are they ???

The Yautja are an extraterrestrial tribal species from the other side of the Milky Way galaxy - although Dr. Bergstrom speculated their origins are here on Earth (Predator: Homeworld). They are renowned for their warlike skills and honor.

They have existed for a long time, dating back to at least the dawn of man (6 million years ago), according to a theory by Dr Bergstrom, and still exist in 2389 AD.

They often afford the onlooker the merest glimpse of "shimmering air" across the rooftops or through thickly wooded forests. The sight is nevertheless unforgettable -- however one survives to remember.

Every so often, a Yautja will arrive at a planet with intelligent game and hunt them for trophies. Even the deadly species Aliens (Kiande Amedha) have had encounters with the Yautja.

Their entire society revolves around the hunt; however, as of yet they have not shown intentions of invasion. They have their own twisted code of honor: they show mercy to the young and the weak while slaughtering and beheading what they perceive as "worthy prey." After killing their prey, they usually remove part of their body as a trophy, a cull if you will. This trophy is usually the skull of their victim.

On several occasions, when the prey has beaten the Yautja, the prey is let go; other Yautja will not avenge their comrade. In fact, should the Yautja still be barely alive, either will fall on his own blade or be willingly executed by other Yautja. The exceptions to this are "Bad Bloods".

(From Predator: Big Game TPB)
"In any war, warriors die, innocents die.
It is the nature of war."

Where are they?

The Yautja have been coming to Earth to Hunt for centuries, maybe longer. With their reputation as efficient predators, Yautja have inspired fear and uneasiness since at least the 12th century (Predator: Nemesis), as records indicate. Some think that they may have hunted the dinosaurs into extinction (Predator: Homeworld).

Usually they have come in tropical areas during extreme heat waves. Often these have been isolated areas such as deep in the rain forests of Central America, Africa, and Asia.

They have been associated with many stories, myths, and fables - from the Choctaws cannibal spirit to rakshasa, even hoblings to will o' wisps.
Are we enemies?

They have hunted, trapped, and eluded attention. The military have trained personnel specifically for capturing their technology and/or hunting them down (Xenogenesis / AvP: Eternal). Other groups have formed, albeit out of vengeance (Race War). Together, they have hunted the hunter, making use of every conceivable technological advance, from a simple tree branch to military issues, even pirated Yautja technology.

The U.S. military is convinced that they could wipe out the planet if they were provoked. Thus, standard procedure is to allow the predators to Hunt for a while and then leave. Efforts to assault or contain them have been disastrous at best.

Since the military has discovered the Yautja, they have desperately tried to acquire their technology while preventing others from getting it (Big Game, Cold War). The Yautja have no desire for anyone to get their equipment, and a dying Yautja will (if possible) blow up his body and all equipment. If a Yautja dies before destroying himself, his fellow hunters will come to his location and destroy all evidence of their existence. Few have ever been successful (AvP: Eternal, Race War, Captive)

Sometime after 2020, Spearhead is formed, however: the ultimate strike team of rogues and mercenaries -- armed to the teeth with state-of-the-art technology -- has banded together to eliminate the Yautja permanently. This venture was unsuccessful.
Are we allies?

As befits an animal of such intelligence and complexities, the Yautja have also inspired respect, awe, and even love. One native Terran tribe adopted a Yautja as their esteemed leader (Dark River). One human, Machiko Nogochi, joined their ranks as an equal.

However, there are still no "formal relations" between humans and Yautja; the predators do not try to communicate with people. Does a human hunter try to talk to deer? To them, humans are primitives useful for sport, not allies.

(From Predator: Big Game TPB)

Monsters, such as this one, are rare. They exist to keep us humble, to remind us that we are not the greatest creatures in the universe. They also exist to remind us of the relationship between predator and prey.

Without prey, the predator is nothing

Oh, there's an excellent piece of information. Thanks.

The humans cannot have our technology. They cannot handle the power within it. They would use it only to dominate other speacies and each other. They have no idea of honor.

We are the supreme hunters. We know the limits. Our job is make them humble and control their breeding. The predator and the prey - that's how it always have been and that's how it has to be.
