I was wondering this in geography today, We've only seen 2 types of predator! How many more are there. Also, this being a AVP Fandom i would think that a few of you have an idea for a Predator species.
uhhh have you not seen predators? there is if im not mistaken as i watched the movie once due to how shitty it was, there was 3 clans each was a different type of predators. However in the concrete hunter game for the original xbox and ps2 there was multiple skins to assume that there are possibly more "types" of predators. But generally i wouldnt say there there are types as its a species so therefore it is safe to assume that from clan to clan the look would be different after all you wouldnt call a human being a type....
Well, most skins looked different in the game P:CJ, But the city hunter in the movie had almost the same skin texture as the original just a different face. So really the thing that distinguishes them is the armour they wear and weapons they used.
For now, all we know is that there are different clans with many individuals in each. You can't really say for sure, just like how you can't really say for sure how many different types of humans there are. There might be a definite amount of active cultures with the appropriate races and ethnicity, but how many people with roots in those cultures are Americanized or live in/grew up in a culture completely different from their cultural lineage? A Filipino-American is a completely different person from a Filipino that grew up in Manila, and even THAT person is a completely different type from the ones who are still largely tribal, and both of them grew up in the Philippines.
Anyway, let's say that Predators are actually exactly like us, but we've only see one tiny side of them - military or tribal. It's hard to think of them as anything other than what we've seen, but imagine if we were Predators that only saw Native Americans in the 1700s. We could never believe that the modern American culture could exist.
So yeah, I think they're like us. Not exactly, but they're like us.
Since they are mammal-like reptiles I would guess they could adapt to different environments over a few generations, which could explain some of the different looks.
I like the thought of each clan being adapted to where they live, so aquatic Yautja might be blue and gray with webbed digits and jungle Yautja being greens and browns and having more pronounced claws for climbing and the like, just my thoughts on the matter.
"mammal-like reptiles"? They have no reptile traits as far as we know. They have warm blood and they have hair. What is reptile about them, other than how they dress a bit like Reptile from Mortal Kombat?
They have scales on the backs of their fingers and toes, and they don't have hair, they have unarticulated fleshy tendrils and spiny quill like protrusions on their brows like an iguanas spines.
Also their skin patterning is nothing like a mammals, and it looks more like turtle skin than any kind of mammal that I can think of, they share traits of both mammals and reptiles.
Also Mammal-like reptiles can have hair, also nipples.
Edit: Mammal-like reptiles are warm blooded, that's part of the reason they are mammal-like.
