Ranks are earned when you gain 'Points.' The points are not really a big deal, but they are earned for participating in RPGs and submitting a very good Topic, for example, R.I.P.'s "How You Became You" topic.
In my eyes, points are like expierence, it just takes a bloody long time to earn them but lately, it is no problem.
