My fathers side of the family. I get Swedish, Norwegian and German from him, and Irish, Cherokee, English and I think Scottish from my mother. I think it was a great, great, great ancestor that came from Norway is how my dads family came to the states.

I didn't realize that I by definition qualified until I was researching Vikings. http://www.vikings-history.com/ it is actually a site made by people who can trace their roots back to the ancient Vikings, not some nerds who play MMORPG's as Vikings.

Edit: Might not be that exact site, but it was one like it(also run by people who were genetic descendants of ancient Vikings) that said I qualified on a genetic level due to heavy Scandinavian ancestry.

Well yeah know it happens the fact that i enjoy a show labels me weird in the face of humanity so meh fuck it dont really care.

But SR, 98% of my family come from Anglo-Saxons. That doesn't mean I'm a Viking or anything, It just means I descend from them.

@Concrete: I'm not an ancient Viking, no, but Vikings survive to the modern day in their descendants. I do in fact fall under Viking in the meaning of the word "Viking" not just because I am a descendant of them. The word "Viking" is from the old Norse word "Vikingr" which means "River Dweller" vik meaning "Creek" or "River" and the remainder relating to where they dwell, along the water.

I live on both a river and a lake Concrete(One on either side actually), so that alone makes technically a Viking just based upon the meaning of the word. I take pride in my heritage and am a modern Viking, I hunt and fish, I have a beard and axes but that doesn't matter. What makes me a Viking is my ancestry and where I live, and I want the tradition of people being Vikings to survive beyond the genetic level.
