No, that's the 1998 American version. It is not well-liked.

The Japanese films have been running since 1954, with occasional breaks (55-64, 75-84, 95-99, 04-present), Final Wars being the last one before the current "break." It was also the 50th anniversary, which meant they loaded more monsters and movie rip-offs into the sumbitch than MST3K on speed.

There are something like 30 of them in total, so confusion is understandable. Shockwave is probably talking about the upcoming 2014 reboot by Legendary Pictures.

The cartoon was cool though. THAT Godzilla was actually Godzilla, which sucks 'cause he's the one who died in Final Wars, not the one in the '98 movie.
